About Fair Trade
Fair trade is about better prices, decent working conditions.,local sustainability and fair terms of trade for farmers, workers, craftspeople, women and children in the developing world.
By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices Fair Trade addreses the injustices of conventional trade. Fair Trade enables people to improve their position and have more control over their lives.
You can feel reassured that the toys for your little one – have not been made in terrible sweat shops by disadvantaged children.
Further the people who craft your item are putting love and care into the products. You notice the quality over the mass produced plastic and mass advertised junk that lasts a week before the plastic is adding to the landfill problems.
Buy Fair Trade – it is better for your family and better for the world.
Wonders stock a unique range of natural toys that are educational, fun, beautiful, ethically made and eco friendly
Q Toys are crafted by highly skilled craftsmen. Q Toys do not employ and exploit unskilled labor in production lines in poorly equipped factories as sometimes reported in the plastic toy industry.
Q Toys ensure highly skilled workers who work with us get a fair deal.
Q Toys also train disabled children in Mekong Delta in Vietnam who want to become craftsmen or craftswomen for life.
QTOYS’s Felt products are made by housewives and unemployed girls in the Mekong Delta to provide employment and training in “cottage” industries. Training is provided by QUINS Group who sponsor the “For a better World” program.
We select toys with forms, colours and textures that nourish the child’svdeveloping senses, and stimulate their thinking and feeling life. We believevthat toys made with loving care by the human-hand have a special quality, andvassist children to meet the world with respect and a sense of wonder.
Environmentally sound, eco friendly toys
The majority of our wooden eco toys are made from timber sourced from sustainable forests in Asia and
Europe. We also stock toys made from rubberwood in Thailand, and Vietnam where older
trees can no longer be used for tapping rubber. In the case of some of our brands that are made in China, you can be assured that we have thoroughly sort out reputable companies who use timbers from plantation forests
Qtoys products are made exclusively from plantation and/or recycled timber.
Plantation rubber trees are tapped for natural latex, and 25% of the world’s latex for rubber is from this region. Old, poor producing trees are cleared to grow young ones. In the past, these trees have been left to decay, creating biological problems. Plantation rubber trees give Qtoys products the natural beauty of wooden patterns, while leaving natural forest unharmed.
Acacia timber is sourced only from plantations. These plantations are critical in re-establishing of forests on degraded sites unsuitable for other agricultural uses. They are also a source of income for many low income farmers.
Coconut trees have a short useful life and are replaced regularly. To date, little use has been found for the timber, which has a beautiful texture. We have developed a “cottage” industry to produce expertly crafted toys, carefully handcrafted by our workers in the Mekong Delta, under our fair trade payment scheme.
Recycled branches of Rubber trees and Acacia trees: these branches are usually used as firewood after the whole trees are cut down. now they are carefully selected and treated to craft into beautiful pieces of play things.
Non-toxic natural toys
The materials used to make our toys are natural and non-toxic.. Many of our toys are coloured with plant dyes, left natural, or finished with natural beeswax.
Ethically made & fair trade toys
We endeavour at all times to ensure the people making our toys are paid a decent wage. We seek out individuals and companies with ethical policies and who are willing to ask questions about how their products are made. We support fair trade
High quality and safety standards
We select companies with high standards of toy safety that comply with Australian and/or European safety toy standards.
